Two practitioners, two ways to book

Dr. Jon Mackey, chiropractor

Dr. Mackey provides medical acupuncture as part of chiropractic care, alongside soft tissue therapy, joint mobilization and exercise. He also treats jaw pain (TMJ) and fits custom orthotics.

Justin Vautour, RMT

Justin provides medical acupuncture within his scope as a Registered Massage Therapist, and he also offers electroacupuncture.

What is electroacupuncture?

Electroacupuncture connects acupuncture needles to a small device that sends a gentle electrical current between them.

How billing works

Medical acupuncture is booked as a regular visit and billed according to who provides it:

  • With Dr. Jon Mackey, it is billed as chiropractic treatment.
  • With Justin Vautour, it is billed as registered massage therapy (RMT) treatment.

What to expect

  • Assessment first. Your practitioner takes a history and examines you, and needle placement is based on those findings.
  • Part of your treatment, not a stand-alone session. Acupuncture is usually combined with joint mobilization, soft tissue work and exercise.
  • Timing varies. Needles may be placed and removed right away, or left in for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • The number of needles depends on your assessment and goals.
